Since 1966, Amici ("Ah-MEE-Key") Camping Charity has had one program goal: to ensure that Ontario recreational summer camp experiences are available to as many children and youth as possible, regardless of financial barriers.
It costs about $75 to give a child a full day at camp: three nutritious meals, swimming lessons, activities and classes, and a cozy bunk in a cabin. Most Amici campers' stay at camp is two weeks long.
But what Amici campers learn from their time away from the city cannot be measured in numbers!
They explore nature, meet friends from different backgrounds and play games outside. They also find new role models, acquire new skills, and discover what it means to care for the environment. When they return home, they bring with them confidence, independence, self-esteem and friendships that will last a lifetime.
We commit to sending each child to camp year after year, until they are too old to be a camper, or until the financial need no longer exists. All 26 of Amici's partner camps are accredited by the Ontario Camps Association.Ê Several camps specifically serve children with special needs such as physical disabilities, learning difficulties, ADHD, and other complex neurological disorders.
Summer camp is a special part of life for so many young people across Canada. Thank you for helping us share the gift of summer camp!
